Discover the North
McQueen’s SloughDawson Creek
Drive east on Highway 49 from Dawson Creek and then follow Rolla Road to the north to locate one of the best bird watching opportunities in the area. McQueen’s Slough is a great spot to see many of the migrating waterfowl that make their way through this part of British Columbia. The waterfowl refuge offers access to visitors through a series of boardwalks.
The spring is the best time of year for bird watching here. Ducks, Canada geese, grebes and loons are just a few of the species that you can watch and photograph. There’s a public outhouse available, and a small parking area. It’s a great chance to take a walk and view some of the unique birds that pass through B.C.
