Mile 0 PostDawson Creek
Dawson Creek is home to one of the most famous milestones in the world – the Mile 0 Post. This local landmark designates the southern end of the Alaska Highway, where it meets Highway 97 at Mile 0. It’s the starting point of a 2,288 km journey from Dawson Creek to Delta Junction, Alaska, a trip that many people wait a lifetime to make.
The Mile 0 Post commemorates the historic feat of building the Alaska Highway during the early days of World War II. The post contains mileage information to other major towns situated along the highway. If you’d like to walk up and take a closer look (and a photo or two) at the Mile 0 Post, parking is available at the nearby Northern Alberta Railway Park.
