Pine River Breaks Provincial Park

This park is east of Chetwynd and south of Highway 97. It can only be accessed by a short hike (or by boat along the Pine River). It provides opportunities for wildlife viewing, fishing and hiking.

If you want to find an off-the-beaten-path location, head east from Chetwynd to find the Pine River Breaks Provincial Park. Turn south on Sundance Pit Road. You’ll have to park and hike about 1 kilometer to reach the park. Remember to bring drinking water with you, because there’s none available on site.

The Pine River Breaks Provincial Park offers opportunities wildlife viewing. You might catch a glimpse of deer, moose or coyotes, and occasionally a black bear. Fishing is allowed with an Alberta fishing license, and there are some hiking trails available. Cycling and horseback riding are also permitted.
