You may not believe us when we tell you that, if you live in anywhere in western Canada, you most likely have a connection to the small village of Mundare, located 30 kilometers outside of Vegreville.
Stawnichy’s meat processing plant in Mundare, Alberta, and has been producing household staples since 1959. The perfectly smoked and spiced meats and Ukrainian fare.
With an expansion in 1992 to Uncle Ed’s Ukrainian Restaurant in Edmonton; all deli and menu items still come from the original Mundare location.
Locals in Mundare are so proud of their ‘meaty’ heritage that in 2001 they had a giant 42’ replica sausage erected in the town square with help from The Edward E. Stawnichy Charitable Foundation.
Mundare is nowhere near mundane and is known for being the small town with a big heart!
