Take Off to the Teepee Creek Stampede
Jul 12, 2012
Tonight is the kick off to the 96th Annual Teepee Creek Stampede. What started out as an amateur event has turned into a pro rodeo tradition.
Starting out as a sports day and community picnic, local resident got together once a year for ball games, horse races, bronc riding, water sports and even boxing matches. The first Teepee Creek Stampede included a horse race across a full ¼ section – it cost $0.50 to enter and the winner took home $5. Since then, the Teepee Creek Stampede has grown and evolved, becoming one of the anticipated rodeos in the north to date.
Beyond the rodeo, the stampede is known for the rodeo dances or cowboy cabarets as coined by local stampeders. This year on the bill is platinum recording artist Sammy Kershaw and local country star Aaron Jake Goodvin - both fan favorites that are sure to keep the crowd on the dance floor.
With a full pro rodeo card and a star studded lineup, the Teepee Creek Stampede is the place to be this weekend.
