A Grave Way to Spend your Evening

Jul 10, 2012

Historical Cemetery Walking Tours Grande Prairie Tomorrow, July 11, is one of the last of the cemetery historical walking tours hosted by the South Peace Regional Archives. While some may be apprehensive about taking a walking tour through the cemetery, this tour is an excellent way to connect with the history from some of Grande Prairie’s most prominent residents.

When the team at We Go North called the SPRA to find out more about the tours, we were so enticed that we signed up to go on the historical walk. Stops on the tour will include the first mayor of Grande Prairie, Mrs. Forbes, and some background on the six unsolved murders that happened in 1916.

Cemetery historical walking tours are hosted by the SPRA in the summer and there are two tours left this season, July 11 and August 8; spots in the tour are limited.

Although this may seem like an unorthodox way to spend your evening, it is a fantastic opportunity to further connect to our community and the people who defined our history.
