Brody Down-Home

Feb 20, 2014

dean brody, country music, country musician, canadian, canadian country,Do you think it’s more likely that crop circles are created by farm boys driving through fields than aliens visiting Earth? If so, you might want to check out Dean Brody.

A Country Musician at heart, Dean Brody cites George Jones and Merle Haggard as his main influences. Don’t let that fool you, however; Brody makes it clear he has no problem “shaking things up musically” and also cites unlikely influences such as AC/DC and Aerosmith.

Dean Brody’s philosophy is that you don’t need to have a lot of money to get where you want in life - all you need is to be a down-to-earth, “do good to others” kind of guy. This philosophy is evident in his music. All one has to do is listen to the song “Four Wheel Drive” - a song about not needing to be high society to be popular with the ladies - to tell that a good natured, down-home boy is exactly what you’re going to get with Brody.

Brody attributes this philosophy to growing up in Jaffray, BC, as well as being unemployed when he moved to Nashville to follow his dream and was unable to work legally in the US. Regardless of where his philosophy comes from, it is evident that this down-home quality has given Brody much success.

Few artists win awards with their very first album but that’s exactly what Dean Brody did. The single “Brothers” from his very first album which was recorded under Nashville independent label, Broken Bow Records, won him a CCMA award for single of the year in 2009 and the achievements haven’t stopped. Since relocating to Nova Scotia and signing on the Canadian label, Open Road Records in 2010, Brody has won two CCMA Album of the Year awards (2011 & 2012), two CCMA Male Artist of the Year awards (2012 & 2013) as well as a 2013 Juno for Male Artist of the year, and has received over 20 nominations.

Audiences have described Dean Brody as having the ability to craft a song in such a way that you feel like you are experiencing the story along with the characters. In other words, a Dean Brody concert isn’t just a show – it’s an experience. But, don’t take our word for it - find out for yourself. Dean Brody is in Dawson Creek tonight at the Encana Events Centre. If you’re going to be out in Dawson this show is definitely worth taking in.
