Dawson Goes Dixie, the Blog
Oct 24, 2013
The Dixie Chicks are back and better than ever, taking the stage at the EnCana Events Centre on October 29. It has been seven years since the chicks have formally graced any Canadian stage for a full-length tour, so the tour name ‘Long Time Gone’ seems fitting.
The sassy trio from Texas will be bringing their vibrant toe-tapping music north of the border, and we know for a fact that Peace Country fans could not be happier. The Dixie Chicks are the highest- selling female group in any genre, they are also the only country and female group in history to earn back-to back Diamond Awards, signifying 10 million in record sales.
It would be hard to define the chicks as just a country band, as their music blends a variety of styles and genres, from bluegrass, rock, pop and of course, down-home country.
Recently, sisters Maguire and Robinson have developed their own side project called ‘Court Yard Hounds’, releasing their second album, ‘Amelita’, earlier this year. While lead singer,
Natalie Maines, released her first solo rock disc, ‘Mother’, in May.
We have no doubt that this threesome will have the entire EnCana Event Centre singing along with their infectious hooks and happy melodies.
