GP Firefighters Tee Off for the Community
Aug 29, 2013
It’s that time of year, the nights are getting cooler and the Peace Country is buzzing with fall charity events. A We Go North favorite, this event will not only give you an excuse to get on the green before the snow flies, but also an opportunity to give back to our community.
That’s right - it’s the Grande Prairie Firefighters Charity Golf Tournament being held on September 14. The tournament will be hosted at The Dunes Golf & Winter Club and will feature 18 holes, a power cart, dinner at the beloved Crown & Anchor, prizes and more. Golfers can register as an individual or a team. Every dollar rose from entries and auctions will go to local charities affiliated with the firefighter’s association.
The Grande Prairie Firefighters Charitable Foundation was established in 2007 by the Grande Prairie Firefighters Association. The members of the association are active members in the community working for numerous charitable causes including Dogs with Wings, Coats for Kids, Kev’s Kids, Odyssey House and the list continues.
These men and women work hard to protect the life and property of the citizens in the Peace Region. Creating this foundation was the most effective way for them to extend that same care outside of emergency settings. Since inception, the association has raised over $100,000 for numerous local organizations.
We are predicting blue skies and green fairways for this hot tournament.
