Carving Out a Great Weekend in Chetwynd

Jun 5, 2013

Chetwynd Chainsaw Competition We are officially only hours away from the 9th Annual Chetwynd International Chainsaw Carving Championship. This championship has turned the quaint municipality of Chetwynd into a year-round, one-of-a-kind destination.

This event, which happens over four exciting days, gives spectators an opportunity to see some of the finest wood carvings, created by carvers from around the globe. This year, carvers will come from as far as Japan and Slovakia to compete in this treasured northern event.

All of the intricate pieces created during the event become property of the town and decorate pathways, parks, and gardens throughout Chetwynd. At the end of this year’s competition, there will be over 120 carvings for everyone to enjoy. Visitors of Chetwynd are encouraged to do self-guided tours of all pieces including winners and fan favorites.

This event is truly one of a kind; words cannot express the technique and talent that these carvers have. Check out the video below to see a preview of what is to come.
