A Feast Made for A Queen

May 8, 2013

This coming Sunday, May 12, families from around the Peace Region will be searching for the perfect way to make ‘Mom’ feel special. Not that we should only think of mothers once a year, but Mother's Day gives the opportunity to take some special time out to thank all the mothers of the world for their tireless spirit, care and nurturing.

There are no shortages of ways to celebrate the day here in the Peace, be it a stroll through Muskoseepi Park in Grande Prairie, a picture-perfect Sunday drive out to Dunvegan or a leisurely brunch. Here are a few suggestions for the latter.

BMIThe Beaverlodge Motor Inn has been a gem of the Peace for years. This rustic hotel and dining room delivers a welcoming ambience and down-home comfort cuisine. A favorite for most Sundays, many flock to the Beaverlodge Motor Inn for their always sold-out Mother’s Day Brunch; with three times sitting times available, 10 am, noon and 2 pm you will not be disappointed with this rural fare. Also, while you’re in Beaverlodge, make sure you get a classic family photo-op with the iconic Beaverlodge Beaver.Stonebridge Hotel Grande Prairie

Pegged as the ‘Best Brunch in the City’, The Stonebridge Hotel is an elegant dining experience that is perfect for families big and small. Special for Mother’s Day, the Stonebridge will have a fun-filled supervised kids’ room to keep the little ones busy, so the entire family can enjoy the delicious offerings from the culinary team; an award-winning culinary team with Top Dino Chef, Shaun Paton on the Stonebridge staff. Mothers attending will also be entered into a special gift basket draw. We warn though, the Stonebridge brunch will set the bar so high other brunches may just never be the same.

Pomeroy Hotel Grande Prairie If your palette is ready for a refreshing change from traditional brunches, then we definitely recommend The Pomeroy Hotel. Newly launched in 2013, The Pomeroy Hotel exemplifies luxury in one of Grande Prairie’s historical landmarks, the former the Grande Prairie Inn. Long-time professionals of the ballroom Mother’s Day Brunch, this will be the inaugural year as the Pomeroy Hotel. Mothers will be treated to a lavish menu that blends a mix of traditional favorites like applewood-smoked bacon and cinnamon bun French toast with more modern cuisine like sockeye salmon served with parsnip puree and a pineapple salsa fresca. Added to the Pomeroy’s opulent spread will be numerous carving stations and a dessert station, sure to satisfy any sweet tooth… That is if you have room.

There are so many great family activities to do with Mom this Mother’s Day in the peace.
