Powering Down for some Family Fun

Mar 22, 2013

Earth Hour Fort St. John The Northern Environmental Action Team (NEAT) will be holding their first annual 5k Headlight Run/Walk this Saturday, March 23, at the Northern Lights College in Fort St. John. The run will be in conjunction with World Wildlife Fund’s (WWF) annual initiative Earth Hour.

The goal of the worldwide campaign is to draw attention to saving energy, but on a more local level, the cycle run will also promote resident awareness for environmentally friendly initiatives in the city.

Around the globe, cities are encouraged to turn off their lights for Earth Hour. For NEAT’s Headlight Run/Walk, participants will be using some family foot-power to help raise the profile of environmental consciousness.

This is a great event to literally power down and spend some time outdoors in the ‘warmer’ spring temperatures.
