Embracing Family Day

Feb 15, 2013

Winterlude Grande Prairie On February 18, Peace Country residents will celebrate Family Day for the 24th time.
The new kid on the block when it comes to holidays, Family Day has definitely woven itself into our societal fabric; it’s a day to be free, have fun, and most importantly, spend time with the ones you love the most.

Communities across the Peace Region have embraced Family Day and most offer no-cost or drop-in activities that are geared toward the entire family, one of which is Winterlude, held at Muskoseepi Park in Grande Prairie.

From noon until 4 pm, there will be a range of activities from snowshoeing, pond ball hockey, local performers, a petting zoo, and more. Winterlude will have a minimal cost of $5 per family that will go toward local community programs.

Although Family Day may have gotten a chilly reception 24 years ago, Alberta families have come to love the holiday as a chance to kick back and spend some quality time with the ones they love.
