Malanka Makes Merry in Grande Prairie

Jan 24, 2013

Malanka Grande Prairie Time is running out to buy tickets for this year’s Malanka celebration in Grande Prairie. The festivities for the holiday are a little late this year, but it’s never too late to celebrate an evening of good food, good friends, and traditional Ukrainian culture.

The Troyanda Society of Ukrainian Culture and Heritage will be hosting the event, Saturday, January 26th, at Five Mile Hall. The society which has been in the Peace for 38 years has been a fundamental part of the Ukrainian community.

Guests can expect a huge feast with traditional fare like perogies, as well as more popularized dishes like roast beef. If attending Malanka we definitely encourage everyone to step outside their cuisine comfort zone and try all of the more traditional fare, in true Ukrainian fashion.

After the feast will come the dancing, with Troyanda Ukrainian Dancers and music by the Emeralds.

This one event where Ukrainian or not, you will be swept away with the hospitality and ritual of Malanka.
