Forrest of Merriment
Nov 15, 2012
For the past 24 years, Peace Country residents have considered the Festival of Trees the unofficial kick-off to the holiday season. That time has come again this weekend; the Festival of Trees begins tonight, November 15, and will run until Sunday, November 18.
Every year, Santa and his elves seem to add a new attraction to this ever-growing holiday affair; this year it is the addition of the Teddy Bear Hospital. The premise is a hospital specifically for stuffed animals that children can bring in to be treated by professional teddy bear doctors.
On average, just over 20,000 residents attend the festival yearly raising $200,000 for the Queen Elizabeth II Foundation and organizers are hoping that this year is no different.
The Festival of Trees continues to grow with the help, support, and dedication from sponsors, community members and all of the wonderful volunteers. The festival is coordinated by nearly 500 volunteers and more than 150 sponsors.
Along with all of the new and festive attractions will be old favorites like Santa’s Secret Shop and the Gingerbread Train Lane.
Young or old, the Festival of Trees delivers as a merry event to get you in the holiday spirit.
