Try your Luck Against a Firetruck
Sep 20, 2012
If you're looking for some quality entertainment this weekend, September 22, look no further than the Pomeroy Sports Centre in Fort St. John for the 2nd Annual Fire Truck Pull, in support of the United Way.
Teams of ten will attempt to pull a 31,000 pound fire truck a distance of 50 feet in the quickest time; that is equivalent to pulling not one, but two African elephants. Awards will be presented to the team with the fastest time, the best dressed/most spirited team, as well as the team that raises the most amount of money.
Both contenders and spectators are invited to fuel up prior to the pull with a pancake breakfast, hosted by Shell Canada. The cost of the breakfast is by donation.
The event which is fairly new has received great support from the community and surrounding areas, folks are encouraged to stay for the show, cheering on teams as they play the ultimate tug of war of man vs. machine.
