Have a Ball in Fairview
Sep 19, 2012
After months of wearing shorts and flip flops, it's time to get gussied up for the fall formal Emergency Services Ball in Fairview.
The EMS Ball is one of the few formal events in Fairview, once known as the RCMP Regimental Ball, and has served as a fundraiser for the Fairview Fire and Rescue Society for the past three years.
The society raises funds to purchase much-needed equipment for local police, fire department and ambulance attachments. Put on yearly by members from all three services, as well as Victim Services and the Grande Prairie STARS team, this ball is an exciting night out.
During the evening, guests can peruse the multiple displays that showcase what the Fire & Rescue Society is about. Similar to the RCMP Regimental Ball, every member of the Fire Department, Police Department, and Ambulance attend the ball in their formal dress.
This year will be the first year that the ball will be hosting a live band, which will be local legends The Barn Yard Boys. Local music, paired with a decadent dinner catered by the Dunvegan Inn & Suites, the EMS Ball is an event that not only a reason to get all dressed up but also celebrate the work of our emergency services members.
“In the two years that I have been, I have had a really fun time.” remarks Heather Glen, Bylaw Administration Clerk and Social Media Manager from the Town of Fairview. “I think that many people don’t understand some of the terrible accidents and tragedies that the members attend to, and they do so with compassion and professionalism.”
Tickets are still available for this fantastic event.
