Zombies For a Cause
Sep 13, 2012
If you happen to be downtown Grande Prairie this Saturday, September 15th, and are witness to some of the Peace Region’s finest undead, don't be alarmed and batten down the hatches. You are observing Grande Prairie’s 2nd Annual Zombie Walk and although the mob may moan for brains, they are actually collecting ‘survivor’ food for the local food bank.
Laura Hawthorn, founder, was inspired by some of the larger urban centers and their Zombie Walks. Laura longed to bring the carefree all-ages event to downtown Grande Prairie all in the name of a good cause.
The walk will begin at the Muskoseepi Park Pavilion at 11am on Saturday and the hoard will make their way past the reservoir, down 100 Street and 100 Avenue and end back at the pavilion.
With Halloween just around the corner and the popularity of zombies increasing from Hollywood's influence, this walk will be an excuse to drench yourself in fake blood and give back to the community at the same time.
