If you make your way south to Monkman Provincial Park from Dawson Creek, you won’t regret it. The drive takes about 90 minutes, and the park is located south of Tumbler Ridge. Waterfalls, streams, lakes and mountains make up the spectacular views you’ll find. Take a short hike from any of the campsites to reach Kinuseo Falls (just follow the sound of the water, you can’t miss it). The falls are actually taller than Niagara Falls, at 60 meters in height.
The Monkman Lake Trail offers a 24-km hiking experience. There are numerous waterfalls that can be viewed along the trail as you make your way to Monkman Lake. Mountain bikes are allowed along the first 12 km of the trail. Another highlight of the park is the Stone Corral. A brochure will show you the trail to take, and you can see caves, ponds and other wilderness features along the route.
