SPRA is a public archives focused on promoting and encouraging the appreciation and study of history in the Peace River District.
Location History


Grande Prairie Regional Archives, now South Peace Regional Archives, was established in January 2000. The archives is sponsored by the Grande Prairie Museum, City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, the Municipal District of Greenview, and the Municipal District of Spirit River.

Our mandate is to acquire, preserve and make accessible to the public records of on-going value from individuals, families, businesses and organizations, which reflect the political, social and economic life of the south Peace River Country of Alberta. These records are in all formats and media, including textual records, photographs, films, sound recordings, maps, plans and drawings.

The head office of the South Peace Regional Archives is located in the Grande Prairie Museum, which is located in Muskoseepi Park.
